Notify NYC - Power Outage
Notification issued 8/31/15 at 9:25 PM. Due to multiple manhole fires resulting in a power outage expect an increased presence of emergency personnel and traffic disruptions in the area of Bedford Ave Wallabout St in Brooklyn. Please avoid the area if possible. To report a loss of electric service, contact Con Edison at 1-800-752-6633. If you are affected by an outage, turn off all appliances, avoid downed and hanging power lines, and keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed to prevent food spoilage. Do not use generators indoors. If you are having a life threatening medical emergency and need immediate assistance, please dial 9-1-1. Notify NYC - Road Closure - Planned
Notification issued 8/31/15 at 3:00 PM. The NYC Department of Transportation will be closing the Metropolitan Avenue Bridge over English Kills for five consecutive overnights, September 1 - September 5, 2015, to continue the rehabilitation of the bridge from damage due to Superstorm Sandy. The closure impacts vehicular, pedestrian and bicycle traffic including the Q 54 Metropolitan Avenue bus. Detour signs will be posted to assist motorists around the closure and there will be Traffic Control Agents posted each night from 11:30 PM until 6:30 AM. Notify NYC - West Nile Virus Spraying
Notification issued 8/31/15 at 12:00 PM. Weather permitting, the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene will conduct ground-based spraying of mosquito adulticide to help prevent West Nile Virus between 8:30 PM on Tuesday, 9/1, and 6:00 AM the following morning, 9/2. The alternate time frame is between 8:30 PM on Wednesday, 9/2 and 6:00 AM the following morning, 9/3. Spraying will be conducted in parts of the following Brooklyn and Queens ZIP codes: 11207, 11208, 11236, 11239, 11414, 11416, 11417. Notify NYC - Silver Alert
Silver Alert issued 8/31/15 at 5:00 AM. The NYPD has issued a Silver Alert in regards to the disappearance of Hector Feliciano, a 68 year-old Hispanic male from the South Ozone Park area of Queens. He is described as being approximately 5'8" tall and weighing 180 lbs. with brown eyes and salt and pepper hair. Mr. Feliciano was last seen Saturday, August 29, at approximately 8:30 PM in the area of Lefferts Boulevard and 109th Avenue in Queens, wearing a blue polo shirt, blue jeans and brown shoes. Public Beach Notification
Notification issued 8/29/15 at 8:30 AM. Per the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the previously issued advisory for Orchard Beach in The Bronx has been lifted.
