Notification issued 7/12/2024 at 4:56 AM. Life-threatening rip currents are likely for all people entering the surf zone from 12:00 PM on 7/12 to 6:00 PM on 7/12. Please refrain from swimming on red-flagged beaches where a lifeguard is not present. Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away from shore into deeper water. If you are caught in a rip current, do not swim against the current. The National Weather Service has issued the following: What: Flood Watch Where: NYC When: 12:00 PM on 7/12 to 7/13 on 6:00 PM Hazards: Heavy rain of 1-2 inches possible may cause flooding in the city, including on highways, streets, underpasses, as well as other poor drainage or low-lying spots. Preparedness Actions: If you are in a basement, prepare to move to a higher floor during periods of heavy rain. Do not drive your vehicle or walk into areas where water covers the roadway as the water depth may be too great to allow you to cross safely. If you lose power and have a disability, access and functional needs, or use life-sustaining equipment (LSE) and need immediate assistance, dial 911. CERT Exercise - Fire Safety Drill - 7/12 (BK)
